BHASHINI and CRIS Ink MoU to Develop Multilingual AI Tools for Indian Railways.

On 9 June 2025, the Digital India Bhashini (BHASHA INterface for India) Division (DIBD), under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), headquartered in New Delhi, Delhi, to collaboratively develop and deploy multilingual Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions across key public-facing platforms of Indian Railways.

  • (ii) The integration will involve BHASHINI’s language technology stack, including Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR), Text-to-Text (TTT) Translation, Text-to-Speech (TTS), and Optical Character Recognition (OCR) into CRIS-managed railway systems.
  • (iii) The partnership also aims to co-develop multilingual chatbots, voice assistants, and over-the-counter enquiry interfaces, significantly enhancing user experience for diverse linguistic audiences across Indian Railways (IR).
