In May 2025, the Uttar Pradesh (UP) government, in collaboration with Indian Railways (IR), launched India’s first Vistadome Jungle Safari Train, marking a significant step in enhancing eco-tourism infrastructure in the state.

  • - The newly introduced service connects the Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary in Bahraich district with the Dudhwa Tiger Reserve in Pilibhit district, covering a scenic 107-kilometre (km) forest route.
  • - The train operates under the name Bichia-Mailani Tourist Passenger, halting at nine stations across UP: Bichia, Manjhara Purab, Khairatiya Bandh Road, Tikunia, Belrayan, Dudhwa, Palia Kalan, Bhira Kheri, and Mailani.

  • (i) The journey spans approximately 4 hours and 25 minutes, with ticket prices at Rs. 275 per person, ensuring affordability for a wide range of tourists.
  • (ii) The Vistadome coaches are specially designed with panoramic windows, transparent glass roofs, and rotating seats, offering immersive views of wetlands, grasslands, and wildlife.
