In May 2025, the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) of the Maharashtra Government signed agreements with two prestigious international universities from Australia and the United Kingdom (UK) to establish their campuses in Navi Mumbai.

  • - The campuses will be developed at Educity, the ambitious education hub initiated by CIDCO in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra.
  • - Each university will invest approximately Rs 1,500 crore in setting up its campus.
  • - The agreements were signed with the University of York (UK) and the University of Western Australia (Australia).

  • (i) The University of York campus is expected to begin operations in 2026, subject to final approval from the University Grants Commission (UGC).
  • (ii) The campus will offer Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) programmes in Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cybersecurity, Business, Economics, and Creative Industries.
