Union Minister Rajnath Singh Launches 'SANJAY - The Battlefield Surveillance System' in New Delhi.

On 24th January 2025, Union Minister Rajnath Singh, Ministry of Defence (MoD), flagged off 'SANJAY,' the Battlefield Surveillance System (BSS), from South Block, New Delhi, Delhi.

🎯 Key Highlights:

  • - The system has been indigenously and jointly developed by the Indian Army (IA) and Bengaluru (Karnataka)-based Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), fostering a favorable environment for "Aatmanirbharta" as part of the IA's "Year of Technology Absorption."
  • - It was developed under the Buy (Indian) category at a cost of Rs 2,402 crore.
  • - Union Minister of State (MoS) Sanjay Seth, MoD; Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan; Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi; Rajesh Kumar Singh, Secretary of MoD; and other senior officials of MoD and BEL attended the flagging-off ceremony.

💡 Other Important Facts:

  • (i) The programme provides trade and forex solutions, enabling women entrepreneurs to access international markets.
  • (ii) Equipped with advanced sensors and analytics, it acts as a force multiplier for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance, ensuring border security, preventing invasions, and enabling effective operations in a network-centric environment.
  • (iii) The system will be implemented in three stages across all operational Brigades, Divisions, and Corps of the Indian Army between March 2025 and October 2025, aligning with the Ministry of Defence’s (MoD) declaration of 2025 as the ‘Year of Reforms.’
