Gorakhpur is set to launch India’s first Integrated Waste Management City-cum-Learning Centre by September 2025 in Suthni village, Sahjanwa. The facility aims to create a garbage-free environment through a circular economy model, processing various waste types to produce charcoal and Bio-CNG. It will also generate employment opportunities and serve as a technical skills learning hub. The project, supported by the Administrative Staff College of India, will handle multiple waste categories, including biomedical waste, e-waste, and organic waste. The initiative aims to foster sustainability and economic empowerment, with plans to showcase the model at the National Chief Secretaries’ Conference in Delhi.
