ICRISAT, IFFCO, and BBSSL Join Hands to Set Up 'Beej Anusandhan Kendra' in Gujarat.

In June 2025, the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), based in Hyderabad, Telangana, along with Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) and Bhartiya Beej Sahkari Samiti Limited (BBSSL), both based in New Delhi, signed a Tripartite Service Agreement to establish the 'Beej Anusandhan Kendra (BAK)' – a state-of-the-art seed research and development center in Kalol, Gujarat.

  • - The BAK is envisioned as a modern facility to strengthen India’s seed innovation ecosystem and promote sustainable agriculture.
  • - ICRISAT has been appointed as the Knowledge Partner and will be responsible for preparing the Detailed Project Report (DPR) outlining the scientific framework, functions, and design of the centre.

  • (i) IFFCO, a leading multi-state cooperative society, will undertake the construction of the BAK infrastructure.
