Department of Biotechnology Marks Swachhata Pakhwada 2025 with Nationwide Cleanliness Initiatives.

The Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology (MoS&T)observed Swachhata Pakhwada 2025 from May 1 to 15, 2025, at its headquarters in New Delhi and across all its Autonomous Institutions (AIs) and Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). The observance was a part of the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), the Government of India’s flagship campaign promoting nationwide cleanliness.

🎯 Key Highlights:

  • - The initiative was organized in line with the Swachhata Pakhwada 2025 calendar issued by the Cabinet Secretariat, Government of India.
  • - Swachhata Pakhwada is a GoI initiative launched in April 2016, in which different ministries and departments dedicate a two-week period to intensive cleanliness and awareness activities.
  • - The event commenced with an oath-taking ceremony promoting cleanliness, discipline, and civic responsibility under the Swachhata Pakhwada 2025 initiative.

  • (i) Significant infrastructure enhancements were undertaken, including the installation of electronic waste (e-waste) bins, sanitary napkin disposal machines, and high-capacity waste shredder machines, aimed at promoting efficient and responsible waste management practices.
  • (ii) Health and awareness programs covered medical check-ups, CPR and BLS training, and expert sessions on single-use plastic reduction and stress management.
  • (iii) Community-driven efforts such as cleanliness drives at senior homes and blind centers, tree plantations, nature walks, and public fitness events fostered public engagement and environmental awareness.
