On June 2, 2025, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu launched two key environmental initiatives — the Rajiv Gandhi Van Samvardhan Yojana (RGVSY) and the Green Adoption Scheme — in Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh, aimed at expanding green cover and fostering community-driven afforestation.

🎯 Key Highlights:

  • - As part of the launch, CM Sukhu released a special souvenir titled 'Samvaad' dedicated to Van Mitras. Under the RGVSY scheme, he awarded certificates to two Mahila Mandals from Nadaun-Amlehad and Bhawdan, who will each undertake plantation on two hectares of forest land, maintaining it for five years.
  • - The scheme actively engages Mahila Mandals, Yuvak Mandals, and Self Help Groups (SHGs) in afforestation efforts.
