India’s AM Green and Netherlands’ Port of Rotterdam Join Forces in USD 1 Billion Green Energy Partnership.

On 26 May 2025, Hyderabad (Telangana)-based AM Green (formerly Greenko ZeroC), backed by the founders of Greenko Group, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Rotterdam (Netherlands)-based Port of Rotterdam Authority to establish a green energy supply chain linking India and Northwestern Europe via the Port of Rotterdam, Europe’s largest energy port.

🎯 Key Highlights:

  • - The partnership aims to enable the annual trade of 1 million tonnes of green fuels, including green ammonia and Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAFs), valued at USD 1 billion.
  • - AM Green is expected to commence production at its green ammonia facility in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh (AP) in the second half of 2026, with an investment of ₹12,500 crores.

💡 Other Important Facts:

  • (i) The MoU covers the supply of bunkering fuels and SAF, as well as assessing requirements for the development of terminal infrastructure in Rotterdam and along the supply chain to Northwestern Europe.
  • (ii) The agreement includes the development of port infrastructure for hydrogen fuel distribution, connecting India’s green hydrogen hubs with European markets.
  • (iii) Phase 1 production of 1 million tonnes of green ammonia at the Kakinada plant will primarily target export markets in Europe.
