In May 2025, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, overseeing the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (Meity), Ministry of Railways (MoR), and Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB), inaugurated India’s first 3 nanometer (nm) chip design centres of Renesas Electronics India Private Limited, a semiconductor solutions provider, located in Noida (Uttar Pradesh) and Bengaluru (Karnataka).

  • - Previously, India had developed chips at 7nm and 5nm nodes.
