In May 2025, the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN-DESA) released its mid-year update titled "The World Economic Situation and Prospects as of mid-2025", revising India’s GDP growth forecast for Calendar Year 2025 (CY25) down to 6.3%, a decline from 7.1% in CY24.

  • - The report also forecasts a marginal increase in India’s GDP growth to 6.4% in CY26.

  • (ii) The global economic growth is projected at 2.4% for 2025 and 2.5% for 2026, both figures reduced by 40 basis points (bps) compared to UN’s previous projections released in January 2025.
