ISRO Successfully Conducts Flight Acceptance Hot Test of Cryogenic Engine for LVM3-M6 Mission.

In March 2025, Bengaluru (Karnataka)-based Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully conducted the flight acceptance hot test of the indigenous CE20 cryogenic engine designated for the 6th operational mission of the LVM3 launch vehicle (LVM3-M6) at the ISRO Propulsion Complex (IPRC) in Mahendragiri, Tamil Nadu (TN).

💡 Other Important Facts:

  • (i) In the latest test, the engine was fired for a maximum duration of 100 seconds for the first time under non-vacuum conditions using the Nozzle Protection System.
  • (ii) ISRO Chairman V. Narayanan announced that the Government of India (GoI) has approved the ambitious 'Chandrayaan-5/LuPEX' mission during an event held in Chennai, TN. For this mission, GoI has collaborated with Japan.
  • (iii) The mission is a step towards achieving India's goal of landing on the Moon by 2040.
