NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL), the global branch of the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), has teamed up with Magnati, a prominent payment solutions provider in the Middle East, to enable QR-based Unified Payments Interface (UPI) merchant payments through Magnati’s Point-Of-Sale (POS) terminals in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

🎯 Key Highlights:

  • - The partnership seeks to broaden the QR-based merchant payment network across more businesses in the UAE, offering seamless payment solutions to over 12 million Indians who travel to Dubai and the UAE each year.

💡 Other Important Facts:

  • (i) Initially, UPI acceptance will be introduced at Dubai Duty Free, improving the shopping and payment experience for Indian tourists.
  • (ii) The service will later be extended to other important merchant sectors, such as retail, hospitality, transport, and supermarkets.
  • (iii) UPI payments are now accepted in seven countries: Bhutan, Mauritius, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka, France, and the UAE.
