MeitY Collaborates with IITs to Enhance Skill Development in the Semiconductor Sector.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has partnered with various Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and private institutions to provide training activities, including skill development in semiconductor manufacturing. This initiative was announced by S. Krishnan, Secretary of MeitY, in New Delhi on January 08, 2025.

🎯 Key Highlights:

  • - Microsoft Corporation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with MeitY under the IndiaAI Mission.
  • - The collaboration aims to provide skill development training to 5 lakh students, teachers, and professionals in AI by 2026.

💡 Other Important Facts:

  • (i) Microsoft, in partnership with MeitY, will establish an AI Center of Excellence (COE) called 'AI Catalysts' to promote rural AI innovation and support 1 lakh AI innovators and developers through hackathons, community-building initiatives, and an AI marketplace.
  • (ii) Microsoft also announced collaborations with five major Indian industries, including Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited, RailTel Corporation of India Limited (RailTel), upGrad Education Private Limited, Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, and Bajaj Finserv Limited.
  • (iii) These collaborations will focus on sectors such as transport, healthcare, finance, agriculture, and education.
